WHAT IS CBT?
WHAT IS CBT AND WHAT KINDS OF PROBLEMS CAN IT HELP WITH?
CBT, or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, is a talking therapy. It has been proved to help treat a wide range of emotional and physical health conditions. CBT looks at how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we act. In turn our actions can affect how we think and feel. The therapist and client work together in changing the client’s behaviours, or their thinking patterns, or their emotional responses or all of these.
IS CBT THE BEST TREATMENT FOR MY PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND ARE YOU THE BEST THERAPIST FOR ME?
If you think that CBT might help, please contact me by phone and we can arrange to have a detailed discussion, prior to arranging an assessment session. I advise that you have a phone discussion with at least 3 therapists before booking a face to face assessment. In our discussion I will get a general idea of your specific problem/s and needs and you will have an opportunity to ask questions, prior to committing to an assessment appointment. If I don’t think I have the correct skills to help with your problem or if I am not current able to see you due to my waiting list, I will explain this and will always give you details of another therapist or suitable service if possible.
